Welcome to Third Grade!
We have so many things to look forward to this year! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, as well as give you some insight as to what will be expected of your child this year.
My name is Ms. Beth A. Owens and this is my eleventh year teaching. I graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education (ESOL Endorsed) from the University of Central Florida. I am a native Floridian, but happy to be living in Atlanta, Georgia. I have loved teaching at High Point for many years!
I believe that parental involvement is the key to a successful school year. I would like to invite you to come to our classroom to see how our day goes. The door is always open to visitors and volunteers. I ask that you let me know in advance if you plan to come to our class. However, I encourage you to participate in our classroom and school activities as well as functions.
As always, there are rules and consequences in our classroom. However, I’m sure you’ll find that our rules are fair. Good behavior and assignment completion (both in and out of class) almost always lead to a reward in our class. Therefore, it is in everyone’s best interest to make sure students do what is expected. On the first day of school, your child will be informed about what is expected, as well as the consequences for not doing what is expected. If you are ever unclear about anything, or if your child ever has a concern about anything, please don’t hesitate to email me at email@example.com .
Please utilize your child’s agenda on a daily basis as a means of communication. It is part of the student expectation that they ask their parent/guardian to sign it every school day. I use the agenda everyday, and each child will be expected to do the same. This is where homework and important messages will be written.
I’d like to thank you in advance for working with me and your child this year. As I said before, parental involvement is super important. You will be hearing from me a great deal, and I hope to hear from you too! I am looking forward to an exciting year! We will all do our very best if we work together.
